Today, after running the long distance run on Wii Fit, the game told me, “You are a fantastic runner!” It also claimed my burn rate was 116 percent!
I am NOT a fantastic runner, and I hate running. I have realized, however, if I want to lose weight, I am going to have to become a runner. It is just a fact of life, and I am going to have to deal.
It was nice to get the encouragement from the Wii Fit about my running abilities even if I don’t believe it.
My previous highest burn rate was 87 percent.
Other things I am trying — I did the plank exercise. This involves putting your forearms on the Wii Fit board, stretching your legs out until you are balancing only on your forearms and toes. You can find video instructions to the plank at YouTube. I held this exercise for 30 seconds. I am not sure if I can do it for longer than 30 seconds since I have not yet unlocked the longer time, and I didn’t bother trying it on my own. I was proud I could do it for 30 seconds.
There is bad news.
Today was the my 29th day. I have been using the Wii Fit for four weeks, and today, I did NOT reach my goal to lose two pounds in two weeks. I blame Memorial Day, but alas, it is not an option on the Wii Fit’s “pick an excuse for your weight gain” board.
I also realized that I will most likely NOT reach my goal for the next two weeks. At least I better not reach it. I accidentally said I wanted to gain 2 pounds. I didn’t realize I had screwed up until it was too late. I may take my body test again and say my clothes weigh two pounds, so I can reach that goal and then fix it.
In looking over my progress, I realized I’ve done pretty well even if I didn’t initially feel like working out today. Once I started working out, I realized why — the backs of my calves are sour. Once I started exercising, however, they were OK.
To date, I have exercised for 17 hours and 3 minutes. This is an average of 35 minutes a day, which is great! I didn’t exercise with the Wii Fit for 6 of those days. Although I did exercise on some of those days, but I didn’t log it in.
Since I started using Wii Fit, I’ve lost 3.6 pounds, which is pretty good. It is even better when you realize that right after I bought Wii Fit, I gained weight. From the highest weight, I’ve lost 5. 3 pounds. My highest weight minus my lowest weight is 6.6 pounds. Part of this fluctuation is taking my body test at different times of the day, I suspect.
The good news is that I am losing weight, and I am exercising even when I don’t really want to do it.
